The science and art of getting your client's body to work the way it is meant to, and in doing so allowing it to break free of pain and dysfunction. From here it can move into higher states of performance on all levels. For each individual what this means will be different. Performance to an 80-year-old woman is to safely and confidently get out of a chair and walk around. For an athlete, it is the pursuit of athletic excellence.

We also talk a lot about building the body's resilience to stress and environmental pressures. It's all fine if you are strong and powerful today, but add a little stress and pressure and your body breaks down, reducing your levels of performance and increasing your risk of injury. We see this in the gym, we see this on the sports field.

Its about enabling athletes to achieve the best that they can with what they have got, and most people are not even scratching the surface of their potential. We have all 'forgotten' how to use certain muscles in our body through inaction. So what happens is that other muscles take over, compensating for the inactive ones. These cheat patterns create a collapsing, imploded state where the body collapses in on itself and destroys itself - because the body has two priorities to breathe and to move and will sacrifice efficient movement to do so regardless. When we cheat we lose strength, power, flexibility and endurance, leaving our bodies less resilient and at risk of poor performance, pain dysfunction, both in the way we move and the way behave.

Be Activated is designed by Douglas Heel he has worked with the South African SpringBoks rugby team, Miami Dolphins, Ajax Cape Town, Wladimir Klitschko and team Barloworld at the Tour de France. - and had it not been for typically shortsighted case of politics within the Bok medical set-up, Heel would still be working with the team rather than simply accepting some individual players into his gym as private clients. As the Sports Science Institute admitted (to its credit), he's working in a cutting-edge field that not many actually understand- and no-one likes to be shown up by a guy who's doing things that you can't do!
